Manchester
Affleck's is the place to be for all your summer fashion needs. In the heart of the Northern Quarter, this one-stop shop is crammed with independant traders of all varieties, whether it's fashion boutiques or even tattoo parlours this hidden gem has you covered. After you've explored their various vintage stores head to the Anime Maid cafe for the perfect bubble tea to top off your shopping trip.
Blank studios are offering a ‘paint your own bear’ night. For all the craft enthusiasts out there this is the perfect night to show off your talent and creativity. From bears to bunnies, clowns to balloon dogs there is a decorative piece or keyring waiting for you. Escape to Freight Island in Manchester is your one-stop shop for everything entertainment and music this summer. Home to a 70’s themed roller disco, a retro arcade corner and an incredible range of street food there truly is something for everyone here. Open 12 hours a day this space is packed with music, food, bars and entertainment. This is a Northern must so head to their website to explore all their music events on this summer.
London
Beyond Art are hosting a variety of art workshops across this summer season and you don't want to miss out. These intimate classes range from vase painting and flower arranging to beading and vision boarding. If you’re looking to 'chill and paint' this summer then this East London community is definitely one to try out. No matter your painting knowledge this experience offers a calm environment to relax, meet new people and express your creative side. Tufting London - In similar fashion, London's orginal tufting workshop is offering classes throughout the summer. This beginner friendly rug making workshop is an incredible daytime activity. Not only will you leave with a handmade rug but this company embraces the mindfullness of art and crafts. Ledbury Pop-up Shop - For all the homeware connoisseurs out there, we have the pop-up shop for you. June 6th-11th Domenica Marland will be attending a summer art and homeware pop-up collection on Ledbury Road. Running until June 25th this pop-up celebrates a collection of women-owned brands and will be the perfect place to discover some independant businesses that were hidden right on your doorstep. Birmingham
Beyond Van Gogh - From August 1st you can experience the beauty of Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. This renowned interactive experience tells the story of one of the most influential and tragic painters in history. Through the use of cutting-edge technology and a carefully cultivated soundtrack this is definitely not one to miss.
Shakespeare in the Park - Though open air cinemas have been a summer hit for a few years, why not branch out and experience the peak of theatre in the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. On August 9th Shakespeare’s timeless comedy 'As You Like It' is being performed in the gorgeous gardens of our second capital. So pack a picnic and a blanket to enjoy the bard's most famous comedy in a setting that is second to none for 'all the world's a stage'.
The Sutton Coldfield Dining Club returns to Birmingham on August 19th. Packed with award-winning street food, specialist gins, and a host of entertainment. Though the food line-up is to be confirmed, we're sure that it will be full of the best street-food that Birmingham has to offer. Four Falls Walk - If you’re looking for some spectacular Welsh sights then the four falls walk, located an hour from Cardiff, is the perfect place for you. Definitely devote a day to browsing through this two-storey warehouse full of goregous garments. These vintage finds are an affordable alternative to fast fashion and their endless supply of clothing and regular kilo sale's will make for a worthy day out.
